trip to Mt. Katahdin

It was the summer of 1975 I think I was working in the barrel factory with Joe and Alex.  We got to talking about hiking Mt. Katahdin and camping there.  Alex and Joe planned the trip and I planned to meet them there because they had other places to go as well and I was going to my family camp a few hours away.  So we met at the Roaring Brook campground and started hiking.  It was a gloomy day but we headed for the base ranger station which was 3.5 miles.  When we arrived the ranger said there is bad weather today so the summit is closed.  Well we left and had a meeting. Alex and I were ready to head down.  Joe said he didn't come all this way to turn around before he got to the top so he was going up. We followed him and made it up with the rain, wind.  We crossed the Knife Edge and headed down to camp. The next day we headed to my family camp where we relaxed a couple days and then Joe and Alex headed out.
