Obituary for Richard H. Kresge

Richard Henry Kresge, 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on Feb. 8, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine H. (Wenzl) Kresge. Together they shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Dorothy M. (Frank) Kresge. He graduated from Liberty H.S. in 1948 and graduated of Bethlehem Business College in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked as a payroll clerk at Bethlehem Steel for 33 years before retiring. Richard enjoyed playing the trumpet and was the leader of Dick Henry's Band of Gold and Sweet-Soft and Swinging. He also played in the 243rd Army Band, Dave Neith Orchestra, The Royalaires, Liberty Alumni Band, Hanover Band and was also a trumpet teacher. He was a member of Christ Church UCC, Bethlehem.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by daughters, Linda E. Beris (George) of Salisbury Twp.; Janis L. James (Thomas) of Bethlehem Twp.; son, Steven R. Kresge of Bethlehem; sisters, Lois Husowitz of Bethlehem; Barbara Bohning of Allentown; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and "one on the way".
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Wednesday, Feb. 14th at 11:00 A.M. in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St. Bethlehem, with a viewing to take place on Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10-11:00 a.m..
