Obituary for Libera C. Evans

Libera Casaccio Evans of Bethlehem, ​96, ​was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, while being cared for by her daughers and the staff of Westminster Village Health Care Center. Libera was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Wilson Murray Evans. Born in Gloucester, MA, ​ ​she was a daughter of the late Diamante and Jeannette (Tognazzi) Casaccio. She and her family moved to Bethlehem in 1964 from Holly, CO, and worked for over 25 years at Moravian College ​in the Placement Office before retiring in 1986. A talented singer, Mrs. Evans was a scholarship recipient at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, and proceeded to sing both professionally and avocationally on radio and with church and community choirs for nearly 60 years. She shared her vocal talents within the Lehigh Valley with the Sanctuary Choir of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem, (where she was a member); Christ UCC Church, Bethlehem; Christian Science Church, Bethlehem; Lehigh University Choral Union; I Paesani of The Lehigh Valley; and The Bach Choir of Bethlehem.

Survivors: She is survived by her daughters, Jeannette Raynes (Clinton) of KS; Ellen V. Evans of VA; Faith A.Jorgensen (Dana) of CT; Carol Joy Evans of CO; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. John Miles Evans in 2012, daughter Hope G. Evans in 2004;grandchildren, Jeremy C. Raynes and Elizabeth Jorgensen.

Services: A memorial service celebrating the life of Libera Evans, will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Westminster Village, 803 N. Wahneta Street, Allentown PA 18109. A private burial was held earlier. Arrangements are entrusted to the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, Bethlehem.
