Obituary for Luis Manuel Delgado

Luis Manuel Delgado, 86, of Bethlehem, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Santa (Elicier) Delgado. Born in Yabucca Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Salvador and Maria (Inostroza) Delgado. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Colflict receiving the Bronze Star. Just recently he was also awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Obama. He worked initially for Bethlehem Steel and later, Reading Railroad and Conrail for many years before retiring as a foreman. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church.

Survivors: In addition to his wife Santa, he is survived by a son, Edwin Delgado; daughters, Elsa Quinones; Lucy Delgado, Kernia Espino; sisters, Cuchi Cintron-Delgado; Catalina Sanchez-Delgado; Angelia Morales-Delgado; brothers, Pedro Delgado; Justo Delgado; 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Francisco, Christopher and Pedro Delgado.

Services: Viewing Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9-9:30 a.m. in the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, 527 Center St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Infancy Church. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cem. Condolences may be left at www.jamesfuneralhome.org
