Service with my COAST GUARD brother

I met Rocky on the Coast Guard Cutter Verbena at Fort Macon (Atlantic Beach), North Carolina.  I met the very best of a friend that made military life tolerable.  He then recieved orders to New York City at Governer's Island, when it was manned by the the Coast Guard, and went aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Firebush.  He called me and said, that a person wanted to trade duty stations with me.  Now, normally I wouldn't do it, but because I had a great friend on board and family on Long Island, I thought, why not.  I stayed until I was discharged.

Rocky and I would jump into my car and we would go to his home every weekend that we could.  I enjoyed meeting his mom, dad and sisters, and then going to his football game from his high school.

My greatest mistake that I had made of my life was not getting an address or phone number that kept me from keeping up with my COAST GUARD brother.  I spent 10-15 years making phone calls and searching the web, in order to look for him. I was checking the high school that he went to, but hit a road block with privacy rules. My cousin helped me by logging onto Ancestry.com. Looking for births in Bethehem, PA and giving him is name.  I was in tears went I saw that my CG brother had passed on.
